Facebook Introduces New Design

By Mike Sachoff

Facebook is introducing a new design and is allowing users to preview the new features and functionality.

The company is inviting members to use the new design and try out the new features by navigating between the new and current versions of the site. Facebook says access to the new design will be limited initially and gradually become available to all of its users in the coming days.

Facebook has been developing its new design since the beginning of the year and has received user feedback from more than 100,000 members as part of the process.

One of the main changes is an expanded "Wall" section, which will integrate feed information about friend's activities along with the ability to leave comments.

A Publisher feature allows users to add photos, video and notes in one place instead of navigating to each individual application.

The company has simplified the way members use third-party applications. Users will be able to test an application before deciding if they want to add it to their profile.

"We've made the changes rolling out today in order to highlight the most recent and relevant information that users value, give users even more control and ownership over their profiles and simplify the user experience," said Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
